Craig Goldwyn, American, Born 19493601 Prairie Ave. I was a journalism major at the University of Florida in 1969 when I took a class from Jerry Uelsmann. He changed my way of viewing the world. I went on and got my Master's in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1975 where I was in a department called Generative Systems, headed by the visionary Sonia Sheridan. A small band of us began playing with computer imaging, Xerography, electrostatic imaging, holography, and other technologies, over the protestations of traditional artists like the painters and videographers. Generative Systems became the Art and Technology department, and most art schools now have similar departments devoted to imaging systems. I was the first grad student in the field and my Masters was the first of its kind in the world. To view more of my work, please visit my website at http://craiggoldwyn.com. Rebirth, 1999 |
